Ask to see the statue
It is 4500 years old, is beautiful and belongs to the people of Northampton. You have the right to see anything in the museum's collection, it is part of the museum service. To request to see it you must email all of the following:

Sign the petition
If you agree that the Sekhemka statue should not be sold, please sign the petition. The online petition has now closed but you can still sign the paper versions which are located at the following locations:
      -St Giles Cheese Shop, St Giles Street, Northampton
     -Coleman's StationersSt Giles Street, Northampton
     -Most Marvellous, Kettering Road, Northampton 
     -The Artist Sanctuary, Clare Street, Northampton
     -Primrose Gallery, Harborough Road, Northampton

Write to your borough councillors
Express your concern at the proposal to your borough councillor. You should point out that you do not agree with their proposal to sell the statue and that monies from sales of anything in the museum's collection should be 100% ring-fenced for the museum in order to retain accredited status from Arts Council. You can find out who your councillors are by searching the council website.
